As the 2008 golf season comes to a close, the British Columbia Golf Association (BCGA) would like to thank the BCGSA for another year of outstanding professionalism.
Your hard work was evident throughout the province. Despite the challenges that were faced by inclement weather in August, your members rose to the occasion and we continued to enjoy the best possible conditioned golf courses.
The BCGA is dedicated to promoting golf in this province at a grassroots level and introducing children to golf is vital to the future growth of the game. The BCGA School Golf Program has seen a dramatic gain in interest and participation - gains that exceed our ability to accommodate all the requests we receive. Nearly 11,000 children across the province have been introduced to the game since the program was launched in 2007.
Championships had another successful year because of your professionalism and dedication to the game. B.C.’s top golfers enjoyed a great deal of success this year locally, nationally and internationally. The top players from eight of the province’s 12 championships went on to claim seven national titles with 34 players finishing in the top ten. These are accomplishments that everyone can be proud of.
As part of an initiative to increase awareness of environmental issues related to golf, we continue to monitor situations throughout the province around water and pesticide usage. As always, we ask that you involve us if you become aware of any concerns in your region.
The Course Distance Marker program will again be operating in 2009. Please keep us in mind for future purchases.

On behalf of Anne Peabody, president of the British Columbia Golf Association, and the rest of the board of directors I thank the BCGSA members for all their support in 2008. We look forward to ongoing success in 2009.
