Mission Statement

The British Columbia Golf Superintendents Association is a society to promote and support the Golf Course Management profession in British Columbia

Summer 2023 President's Message

Summer arrived early this year with record highs early on resulting in another drought year throughout much of the province. Some of us will have to deal with lack of reserves/resources, failures with equipment, financial constraints or even lack of labour due to HR issues, but we always seem to find a way. As Superintendents, we continue to be pressured with new challenges but always endure to come out on top.

The BCGSA is no different, in June we had to say goodbye to Miranda Robinson as our Operations Manager. It is with mixed emotions that Miranda has decided to move on, we’d like to thank her for all her efforts and wish her the best of luck on her future endeavours. As Superintendents, we will persevere and move forward. We may have hit some bumps along the way, but we appreciate your patience and are committed to providing you, our membership, great service and quality benefits.

As we move through this transition, we have benefited from the partnership that we have formed with the CGSA. Kathryn and her team have stepped up tremendously to help out, taking on much of the administrative work and communication out to the membership for the organization. As we continue to move forward in our recruitment for a new Operations Manager, please feel free to reach out to myself if you have any questions.

Now for the fun stuff! Organization for the Exchange Event at Nicklaus North is well underway. The planning committee consisting of; Stuart Sheridan, Spencer Grundy, Aaron Mansbridge and Dennis Luick, have been working hard behind the scenes to make it a memorable event! If you have not registered yet, please do so ASAP as it’s going to be a great time. I know personally, Lynette and I are looking forward to spending a few extra days in advance to the event up in Whistler, lots of great golf, hiking swimming, restaurants and so much more.

I’ll finish up by thanking each of you for your continued support to our association, we would be nothing without you our members. The board wants to make sure we provide great value for you and if there is something that you feel we are missing or can improve upon, I am all ears.

Cheers,

Brett Finlayson, President
