Shannon Lake Golf Course - Assistant Superintendent

Course Description:

Shannon Lake golf course nestled into the beautiful mountain sides of West Kelowna is a 6121 yard 18 hole semi private course and one of the busiest in the Okanagan Valley. Established in the early 80’s as a 9 hole, we quickly expanded to 18 holes in the late 80’s.

Shannon Lake has hosted various zoned amateur events over the years and although we don’t have a long yardage we have some very challenging greens which many players often overlook when first reading the scorecard, par is often well protected.

We are in the 1st phase of a full hdpe, 18-hole Rainbird irrigation system replacement designed by Reg Down of Pacific Irrigation Consultants and installed by Olsen Beatty Irrigation. Completion of the first phase is scheduled for May of this year (9 holes). The second phase is tentatively scheduled to begin in September of this year. We will be working with Rainbirds latest Cirrus Pro software.

There are several course improvement projects scheduled over the coming years including new greens complexes, re designed 1st tee area, tee box and bunker renovations. We worked with Goodwin Golf in 2022 to build 4 Better Billy bunkers which have been a big success, as well as enlarging and re leveling 4 sets of tees. Course improvements are approved based on a long range master plan the course has in place.

Shannon Lake has a board of directors who are responsible for all major decisions regarding the club.
