 Hillview Golf Course - Assistant Superintendent/Assistant in Training

   

Overview:

Hillview Golf Course is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Superintendent, or an Assistant in training.

Opened in 1986, we are an 18 hole executive golf course designed and built by course architect Dan Kitsul. This challenging track of 16 par 3’s, 2 par 4’s, meandering creek, 8 ponds, and 9 well placed sand traps will test all levels of player. Our season starts in early, to mid March and ends in late October.

We are located on the east side of Vernon, British Columbia, in the sunny Okanagan Valley. Only 30 minutes from Silver Star Mountain Resort, and 15 minutes from Okanagan, Kalamalka, and Swan lakes, so there are an abundance of outdoor activities to fill your outdoor enthusiast’s passion.

We are looking for an energetic, self motivated individual that is detail oriented and has a passion for golf course maintenance.

  • Strong understanding of the game and rules of golf
  • Irrigation repairs and maintenance experience
  • Class 5 driver’s license
  • Additional Consideration given for:
    • Mechanical aptitude and/or willingness to learn
    • Pesticide Applicators Certificate (or willingness and ability to obtain one).
    • Education in Turfgrass Management from a recognized education facility,
      • Or in the process of obtaining one,
      • Or a minimum of 3 years in a golf course related supervisory roll

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the training, instruction, and supervision of all maintenance staff
  • Assist in and oversee the overall safety of the equipment, and the facility, for our team and guests alike
  • Operation of all course maintenance equipment
  • Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, and ensure others do as well
  • Application of fertilizer, surfactants, and other pertinent chemicals
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of all related maintenance equipment
  • Report any activities, problems, or safety concerns to the Superintendent, and partake in the enforcement of any remedial actions necessary to resolve the situation
  • Maintain proper and accurate record keeping
  • Participate in the operation, maintenance, and repair of all irrigation related equipment and drainage systems
  • Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time by the Superintendent

  • Full Time, Seasonal (approx. March 1st thru November 30th)
    • With potential for year round in the future for the right person

  • Work is on a shift basis (including weekends, evenings and holidays when necessary)
