Summary:

Olympic View Golf Club’s Grounds Team is looking for a Mechanic who wants to play an integral role in maintaining our breathtaking golf course. We have a dynamic group that values the teamwork it takes to achieve excellence in fine-tuning and maintaining mowers, utility vehicles, and other equipment used in groundskeeping for all 18 holes of golf.

No golf course experience necessary! We’re looking for a team player who loves, and has experience, fixing and maintaining machines. Working alongside our Assistant Mechanic and Grounds Team Members in a unique, natural environment that is fun and rewarding.

Schedule: 

  • Flexible start date ideally between October 1st – December 1st, 2023
  • This is a full time (40 hr/week), year-round position.
  • Typically, Monday through Friday 6:30am-3:00pm although this can be flexible.

Responsibilities:

  • Regular machine repair and maintenance on a variety of groundskeeping equipment, including mower setup and quality control
  • Execute the preventative maintenance program
  • Work efficiently, focusing on quality over quantity
  • Make recommendations for improvement
  • Perform general golf course maintenance tasks to ensure exceptional daily course conditions, if needed
  • Follow guidelines to ensure safety for you and your team

Candidate Requirements:

  • Mechanical aptitude with at least 2 years of experience as a mechanic
  • Moderate fitness level with the ability to complete general labour tasks
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to speak and write in English
  • Current resident of Canada and/or current ability to work within the country

Our ideal candidate will be competent in all the following items, and highly proficient in some:

  • Maintenance & repair of gasoline, diesel and 2-stroke engines
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Electrical troubleshooting
  • Maintenance & repair of battery-operated equipment including golf carts, utility vehicles and fully electric large-area mowers
  • Reel mower grinding and setup for precision mowing down to 1/10th of an inch
  • Proven troubleshooting skills
  • Welding & fabrication skills
  • A desire to think outside the box and provide creative solutions to problems
  • Ability to maintain detailed, digital records of maintenance & repairs on all machines
  • Ability to plan & budget for all supplies in accordance with the annual goals of the Grounds Department
  • Supervisory experience to help lead & train our Assistant Mechanic
  • Detail orientated with a desire to maintain a clean, organized workspace
  • Ability to work within a Team age ranging from 16 to 66 years old

The mechanic is a key position within the leadership Team of the Grounds Department. As much as we are growing grass, and you would be maintaining machines, we are also growing people. We are looking for someone with a desire to help grow out younger Team Members and provide them with experience that will help them wherever their future working careers may take them.

Compensation and Benefits:
