The Vancouver Golf Club is excited to share a unique and rewarding career opportunity of Second Assistant Superintendent, an integral role on VGC’s Turf Grass Management team!
The Opportunity:
- Position: 2nd Assistant Superintendent
- Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent (year-round employment).
- Work Location: On-site; Vancouver Golf Club – 771 Austin Avenue, Coquitlam BC.
- Reports To: Superintendent – Kyle Bradbury.
- Compensation: Base Annual Salary of $60K - $67K per year (commensurate with experience).
- Application Close Date: Interested candidates are encouraged to apply before February 23, 2024.
Desired Qualifications:
- Successful candidates should have a thorough understanding of the game and rules of golf.
- Solid understanding of the private membership golf club environment.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to supervise 22 team members (prior experience in a supervisory capacity within a unionized work environment is considered a bonus).
- Previous experience in a 2nd or 1st Assistant Superintendent role.
Education and Certification:
- Degree or two-year Diploma in Turfgrass Management, or a recognized turfgrass-related field. or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and relevant experience.
- Proficiency in irrigation scheduling, maintenance, and repairs.
- Knowledge of IPM and proper use of fertilizers and pesticides.
- Valid BC Pesticide Applicators License preferred, or a willingness to promptly obtain one.
- TORO irrigation experience would be considered an asset.
