The Vancouver Golf Club is excited to share a unique and rewarding career opportunity of Second Assistant Superintendent, an integral role on VGC’s Turf Grass Management team!

The Opportunity:

  • Position: 2nd Assistant Superintendent
  • Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent (year-round employment).
  • Work Location: On-site; Vancouver Golf Club – 771 Austin Avenue, Coquitlam BC.
  • Reports To: Superintendent – Kyle Bradbury.
  • Compensation: Base Annual Salary of $60K - $67K per year (commensurate with experience).
  • Application Close Date: Interested candidates are encouraged to apply before February 23, 2024.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Successful candidates should have a thorough understanding of the game and rules of golf.
  • Solid understanding of the private membership golf club environment.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to supervise 22 team members (prior experience in a supervisory capacity within a unionized work environment is considered a bonus).
  • Previous experience in a 2nd or 1st Assistant Superintendent role.

Education and Certification:

  • Degree or two-year Diploma in Turfgrass Management, or a recognized turfgrass-related field. or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in irrigation scheduling, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Knowledge of IPM and proper use of fertilizers and pesticides.
  • Valid BC Pesticide Applicators License preferred, or a willingness to promptly obtain one.
  • TORO irrigation experience would be considered an asset.
