Courses on Vancouver Island enjoyed a very good July, August and September thanks to beautiful sunny weather and limited heat pressure. As a result most facilities are reporting good traffic through their courses and less disease pressure than what had been experienced during 2010.
With this year’s fall wind up right around the corner being hosted by Crown Isle’s Superintendent Mike Kearns and his staff, we would like to encourage everyone interested in joining us to give Mike a call and come over to the Island for the event and enjoy the beautiful facilities at the Crown Isle Resort.
VIGSA is busy preparing for our 5th Annual MS Hockey game and fundraiser. Because this year’s WCTA Conference is being held in Victoria at the end of January we are moving our VIGSA MS Industry Silent Auction and Professional Development day’s to November 15th and 16th at the Westin Bear Mountain Resort which is shaping up to be another great event. Due to the new time frame of this year’s event we are excited to introduce a 9 hole two man Scramble to the event where 20 dollars from each golf registrant will be donated to WCTA Turf Research. The Westin Bear Mountain Resort has extended us a room rate of $105.00/night for the event and Dr. Roch Gaussoin from the University of Nebraska and Todd Gilmour will be providing a full day of education worth 5 CEC’s for CGSA Certification and B.C. Pesticide license points the following day, Wednesday November 16th.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Trevor Parkes and Casey O’Connor for sponsoring this years golf tournament reception and Professional Development day. We have secured seating for 100 attendee’s and hope that many of our peers from across the Province will join us in this great learning and networking opportunity.
