Storey Creek Golf Club, located in Campbell River, BC, a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and regarded as the “Salmon Fishing Capital of the World” is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team in the role of 2nd Assistant Superintendent. This position will be full time and year-round. Storey Creek is consistently ranked as one of British Columbia’s top courses. In 2017 Storey Creek was rated as the 5th best value in Canada by Score Golf and best value in BC. In 2021 we were awarded the 58th Best Public Access Facility in Canada.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the maintenance team and will assist the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent in ensuring that both our members and guest’s expectations are exceeded.
Plans for 2025 Season Include:
- Major renovations to the 11th hole that will include a new fairway, new and renovated bunkers, new green surrounds and new irrigation
- Greens surrounds irrigation installation for select holes
- On going bunker renovations
- Re-building select tee
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Assist with repair and maintenance of the irrigation system and drainage installation
- Assist in the application of fertilizers, pesticides and amendments
- Assist with staff and project supervision
- Hand watering of greens, tees, and approaches
- Monitoring and recording green and fairway moisture levels
- Assist in carrying out cultural practices
- Assist with on course maintenance when required
- Assist with staff training
- Ensuring health and safety standards are followed to maintain a safe working environment
Qualifications and Assets:
- Minimum of 5 years golf course maintenance experience
- Possess a positive attitude, strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Possess a BC Landscape Pesticide Applicators Certificate or be willing to obtain within 90 days of employment
- Knowledgeable in the repair and maintenance of sprinklers and water lines
- Experience with both Rain Bird and Toro sprinklers would be an asset (we are converting from Toro sprinklers to Rain Bird)
- Valid drivers license
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions
- A diploma or degree in turfgrass management is an asset but not required with equivalent experience
Rate of Pay:
Salary of $65,000 to $70,000 per year dependent on qualifications.
