 Smithers Golf & Country Club - Assistant Superintendent

  

Smithers Golf and Country Club, a scenic public golf facility nestled at the foot of Hudson Bay Mountain, is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as Assistant Superintendent.

The Assistant Superintendent will work directly with the Superintendent and provide leadership and motivation for staff in the daily maintenance of the property through their strong work ethic, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and performing daily maintenance operations
  • Train staff in equipment operation and safety procedures
  • Communicate observations and make recommendations
  • Perform fertilizer and pesticide applications, calibrations, record keeping
  • Operate and maintain irrigation system
  • Assist with construction projects and renovations
  • Assist with the maintenance of the equipment fleet
  • Assist in all aspect of Integrated Pest Management
  • Communicate with, and assist other departments to ensure the entire operation runs smoothly
  • Ensure all employees comply with the Club’s safety policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Completed or enrolled in a recognized turf management program
  • Experience in golf course maintenance
  • Possess or ability to obtain a BC Pesticide Applicator Certificate
  • Experience in operating and maintaining irrigation systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Mechanical aptitude

Compensation:

  • $28-32/hour Full-time seasonal (March 1-November 30)
